'my.derm.md'
The my.derm.md website is a comprehensive and
informational resource to medical students, residents, practicing
physicians, and researchers, provided free of charge by derm.md.
In keeping with derm.md
company goals, we hope that my.derm.md will
benefit the dermatology community by providing an internet portal
that will bring together the best dermatological resources related
to education, technology, and community. By supporting education
and research in dermatology, as well as providing up to date
news, technology and event information, we ultimately want to
see
a united field that shares its findings and experiences with
one another.
Derm.md's Mission
Our goal is to educate healthcare providers using the latest
technological advances and custom-designed software applications.
In so doing, we hope to facilitate the learning process and
ultimately enhance patient care.
Funding and Sources

Original funding was obtained via unrestricted educational grants
and departmental funding.*
In March 2003, we achieved a Not-For-Profit corporate status
under the name of Derm Education Foundation. Our offices were
relocated to Gurnee, IL. This NFP status facilitated the founders'
ability to evangelize about their work, eliminate potential
conflict of interests for education grant opportunities, solicit
funding, and more accurately define the organizational mission
of derm.md.
The founders do not draw salary nor other financial support
from the Derm Education Foundation.
Our plans are to continue as an NFP and solicit funding from
the private sector and philanthropic sources. We hope to expand
our software product line to support a larger user base, including
international students and practitioners of Dermatology. Often,
universities in underdeveloped countries lack the financial
support to provide adequate teaching resources (books and other
materials), and the founders have observed this first-hand during
visits to medical schools in India and abroad. With appropriate
funding, our goal is to make our resources available free of
charge to users both nationally and abroad.
